A narrow wooden jetty leads into a harbour of silent masts and waiting boats. Ropes lie heavy with salt and weather. Above, the sky gathers itself in layers of steel and smoke, pressing low against the horizon.

Canvey Island is a portrait of pause. Of work finished for the day. Of journeys not yet begun. It holds the tension between movement and stillness, between the promise of departure and the comfort of return.

The composition draws the eye forward along the broken boards, into a forest of rigging and shadow. Lines rise, reflections soften, and the landscape settles into a study of texture, labour, and quiet dignity. There is no spectacle, only atmosphere, honest and unadorned.
